PASSIVE HARMONIC FILTERS
INTRODUCTION:
Operating a motor drive system without a harmonic filter can cause several problems. Passive harmonic filters are commonly used on the input side of motor drive systems. PHFs are designed & manufactured to provide an economical solution in harmonic mitigation in Power Systems by maintaining THID 5% in compliance with the current & voltage requirements of IEEE 519.
APPLICATION:
– Motor Drives – Electronic power supplies & UPS
– Diode Rectifier – HVAC
BENEFITS OF PASSIVE HARMONIC FILTERS:
Take the harm out of harmonics – The VFD and passive harmonic filter combination reduce overall input harmonic distortion, helping you maintain IEEE-519 compliance.

- Compliance to IEEE-519, UL61800-5-1
- Improves system reliability
- Eliminates nuisance tripping
- Very effective in Reducing Losses
- High attenuation of individual harmonics
- Reduces operation & maintenance cost
- Prevents overheating of components
- Increases system efficiency & equipment life
